It's been a long time since I last blogged. Well I made a trip tp Kuala Kubu Bahru recently to experience white water rafting. Missd a lot of oppurunities to do this for quite some time. Finally had the chance when the trip was organized by the company's KSC Splash Club.
Meeting point with the organizer (Chee Wan).
The journey took about an hour before we reached Kuala Kubu Bahru. Nothing much happened on the way as we passed through Rawang town and some trunk road. Basically it was boring ... there were four of us in the car (Lokman, Ben, Cindy and me).
At the starting point. Most of us were glad to get started and the excitement was building every minute. Here we geared up, applied some lotion and of course took some pics ... :D
Next... group photo session ... holding our registration forms.
Gearing up and the briefing session on the rules and emergency rescue procedures. Luckily I paid FULL attention.
The action begins.
Something happened and I was the first one to fall into the river at the first rapid called the First Canyon. The current was freaking fast and all I could do was try to keep afloat. Sukry, my raft guide rescued me at the bottom of the rapid. By the time I was out of the water, my legs were bruised and my knees were hurting like hell. hehehe but at least I managed a smile and tried to act as though it was nothing. Deep down in me, the fall really scared the shit out of me.
What happened after the fall was that I told myself to sit down and I mean really down in the raft and hold on really tight before every rapid fall. This actually made it a little embarassing for me as we were supposed to only sit in when our guide Yoo has given us the instruction. But nevertheless, I managed to perform the all the orders given even though by sitting in the raft...:P. The journey was really good with more rapids to come and more rocks to avoid.
About one and a half hours later, we reached our resting point of our journey. Relax and of course photo session time. We had some snacks made up of apples, energy bars and chocolates. For me I was glad to have a rest as my knees were swollen and aching.
Most of us including me thought that the rest of the journey would be smooth and relaxing...
Hehehehehe...
The raft I was in encountered some action too ... so did all the other rafts ... :P
Lots and lots of teamwork was required from each and everyone of us as we had to overcome not only the strong rapids but also the hugh rocks in the river.
In the end, we managed to overcome the obstacles and slowly but steadly we reached our end point.
Our guides played a major role in ensuring our safety which enabled us to complete the journey in such fun!!!
Took our lunch at the end point and drove home ... All in all it was a worthwhile trip and I never regretted coming on this one. Lessons about life and a lot more were learned in the short 3 hours journey down the river. When was the last time I had learned so much in 3 hours...:D Cheers mate!!!
